John Fletcher, Managing Director, BRG
John Fletcher has experience in the design, construction and management of projects and has worked on construction projects on four continents. He has significant experience in the forensic analysis of delay. He has been appointed as an independent expert on programming and delay matters. He has submitted written evidence in mediation, adjudication and international arbitration proceedings and given oral expert testimony.

Before specialising in the field of expert advice, Mr. Fletcher gained experience in the construction industry in both pre- and post-contract environments. He gained strong mechanical engineering design credentials as a design consultant for projects including commercial property developments, health facilities and fuel farms. He also has worked in design-review roles in the construction of large buildings and redevelopments. He is regularly appointed to provide strategic development management, project management and programme management advisory services on major capital investment projects and programmes.

 

Tom Hutchison, Partner, HFW 
Tom is a Partner in HFW’s Construction team, specialising in construction and engineering law, with a focus on the energy, renewables, oil and gas, transport, and infrastructure sectors. His practice spans international markets, where he advises on large-scale, technically complex, and high-value projects. He supports clients throughout the project lifecycle – from procurement planning and contract structuring to risk management and dispute resolution.

Tom acts across all forms of dispute resolution, including arbitration, litigation, and ADR. He regularly advises on claims involving delay, disruption, defects, and wider commercial issues. He also represents clients in bid challenges arising from public contract awards.
Tom is dual-qualified in Scotland and in England & Wales, enabling him to provide seamless cross-jurisdictional support to clients.
 

Sean Marriott, Partner, HFW 
Sean is an ex-engineer and specialises in construction disputes and international arbitration in the oil and gas, mining, power, renewables and public infrastructure sectors, and also in investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS).  He advises contractors on claims and risk management at all stages of the project lifecycle.

He has acted as managing counsel and advocate in construction arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, SIAC, ICSID and LMAA rules and in court litigation and has acted in some of the biggest construction disputes in Australia. He also has extensive experience in maritime disputes.
Sean’s expertise in international construction disputes and international arbitration is reflected in his recent appointment by the Attorney-General of Australia as one of Australia’s four appointees to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators and Conciliators. He was also recently re-appointed as an Australia delegate to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA). Sean lectures and teaches on Construction Law and International Arbitration and is a member of the Thought Leadership Committee of the Society of Construction Law Australia.

He was awarded International Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioner of the Year at the Australian ADR Awards in 2023 and is ranked in legal directories as one of Australia’s Leading Arbitration Lawyers and as a Construction Law Rising Star.
Sean is admitted in Australia and England & Wales and has practised in London and Perth.

 

Phillip Solomon, Managing Director, BRG
Phillip Solomon is a managing director in BRG’s Energy & Climate practice, based in Singapore. He is a seasoned senior energy executive and recognized industry expert with nearly thirty years of experience in the oil and gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), power, renewables, and utility infrastructure sectors. He has worked as an owner/operator, original equipment manufacturer, and consultant throughout his career. He has led the project development of energy projects across the globe, including in American, European, Asian, and Australian markets.

Mr. Solomon has deep knowledge of the LNG trading industry with extensive experience in advising floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) developers, negotiating LNG and gas sales and purchase agreements, developing and managing joint ventures with Asian LNG entities and customers, and managing facilities as an owner/developer.
