AIPN would not be what it is without the the volunteer support given by its members. Committed volunteers give countless hours of their time, energy and expertise in support of the organization and its mission. Each year, the Outgoing AIPN President recognizes members who have made significant volunteer contributions over the last year.

The Legacy Award was established in 2008 to recognize members for their long-term dedication and significant contributions to the AIPN and its members. This year Eric Fry, a former AIPN President, has been selected as the recipient of this award. Eric’s tireless efforts on a variety of AIPN initiatives over the years, especially on Education, deserves recognition and our deepest gratitude. Thank you, Eric, for all that you have done and continue to do to help the AIPN achieve its mission for energy negotiators around the globe!
Member of the Year Award
Joe Tomkiewicz and David Haverkamp
The Member of the Year Award honors a member(s) for their exceptional support and dedication to the advancement of AIPN over the previous 12 months. This year, this award goes to Joe Tomkiewicz and David Haverkamp. Both Joe and David have gone above and beyond with their efforts in the Asia region on regional events, conference organizing and keeping the AIPN relevant in the region. We are very grateful for their efforts especially given the difficult year that necessitated conference and events cancellations, and shifting content to online formats.
Uisdean Vass, Bob George and Luis Miranda
The Education Award was created in 2006 to acknowledge a member(s) for their scholarly contributions to the AIPN. This year we have three recipients of this award: Uisdean Vass, Bob George and Luis Miranda. In addition to serving as a co-chair of the Asset Sale and Purchase Agreement Drafting Committee, Uisdean has put considerable effort into planning and hosting regional webinars as part of the European region, which is very much appreciated by the staff and the Board. Bob George is being recognized for his efforts coordinating the AIPN Mentoring Program and Luis Miranda for his work in re-invigorating our Young Negotiators (YN) program, both working hard make these worthwhile, rewarding and valuable programs for our members. Bob and Luis’ efforts focused on youth education will greatly benefit the AIPN as the younger generation of future energy leaders takes shape.
The President’s Award recognizes members who have exemplified excellent leadership and dedication to the AIPN’s mission of providing the highest quality service and value to its members as well as enhancing the effectiveness and professionalism of the international energy community. This year’s honor goes to Mike Beirne. Mike’s role as Vice President of Conferences all but evaporated mid-last year due to the cancellation of our conferences, or so we thought. Mike was not deterred by this obstacle and he quickly took the reins of the new Online Content Taskforce as we pivoted our content offerings to online formats. Mike also made sure we kept our conference plans alive by guiding our efforts to re-schedule the Bangkok IPS and other programs. Thank you, Mike, for your leadership and dedication to the AIPN!
