Organized by the Latin America & Caribbean Chapter, this webinar will provide an analysis on the most relevant issues that extractive industries are facing in Ecuador as the country looks toward a presidential election process. A group of speakers with different professions, backgrounds, and skills, including a sociologist, a political scientist, as well as experienced lawyers, will provide a broad perspective about these issues.

Ecuador’s oil and gas and mining industries are facing local and national debates concerning the present and future of these activities. Speakers will aim to give different perspectives from the private investors’ standpoint, their expectations of the electoral process, and the different positions towards extractive industries in the candidates’ campaign programs.

The main topics that will be addressed are:

- the current political situation of Ecuador;
- presidential elections scenarios and the role of Congress;
- the most relevant candidates’ position towards extractive activities;
- Ecuadorian indigenous movement, leaders, winners and losers;
- how private investors envision the political future (those that are already in Ecuador and those that are analyzing new opportunities);
- pending government tasks in mining;
- pending government tasks in oil and gas; and
- what problems the new government will face.

Please note this webinar will be held in Spanish.
