Oliver Wack is the General Manager for Colombia and the Andean Region for Control Risks. Oliver specializes in supporting our clients in the management of strategic and operational risks, working with practice and regional leadership teams to best utilise Control Risks’ global resources and to develop tailored solutions to solve their most complex problems. Prior to this Oliver headed the political risk consulting business for the Americas. He holds a BA in International Relations and Affairs from London Metropolitan University and a master’s degree in International Affairs from SciencesPo in Paris.

Nicolás Urrutia is a Senior Analyst in Control Risks’ political risk analysis team in the Andean region. He is an expert on Colombian politics and security and provides clients with advice and analysis on Peru and Suriname. He has held various positions in the Colombian Government and the private sector, focused on intelligence and national security policy. Nicolás holds a BA in International Relations from Stanford University, a master’s degree in Political Science from the Universidad de los Andes, and he attended the general and flag-officer course at Colombia’s National War College.

Julio Cesar Vaca is the senior advisor of O&G to the Ministry of Mines and Energy. With more than 10 years of experience he has extensive knowledge in the area of regulation, formulation and analysis of public policies, project research and data analysis. He was designated by the Government as the technical secretary of the Experts Commission for unconventional resources convened by the National Government. Julio holds a BA in Economics from Universidad de los Andes, a Master’s degree in Economics from the Universidad de los Andes, Master´s degree in Corporate Finance from the Universidad de Barcelona. He has been selected to attended course in United States of America (IVLP 2019), South Korea (Petroleum Quality Management System, 2018), and Argentina (Argentinian experience in the development of unconventional resources, 2019) related with the O&G industry.

Marianna Boza is a transnational attorney authorized to practice in Venezuela and Colombia. She is a Director at Brigard Urrutia and is Head of Mining and O&G. In her capacity, Marianna advises clients around the world on the operations and corporate transactions of upstream, midstream, or downstream energy companies.  She has substantial experience advising companies in the oil & gas and petrochemical sectors. She has been involved in major upstream, midstream, and downstream projects in Latin America, advising in the negotiation and drafting of the relevant contracts. Marianna has advised clients in the negotiation, creation, and financing of joint ventures for the development of hydrocarbons and petrochemical activities and the processing of gas in Venezuela and Colombia.

Marianna was the senior legal counsel at Shell Venezuela, actively participating in the downstream business to produce oil by-products. Additionally, she was an in-house attorney in secondment for the legal department of Repsol and ChevronTexaco in Venezuela, where she provided business-focused advice and gained on-site experience.

Marianna actively participates in several binational chambers of commerce and associations of industry and trade; she is currently the vice president of the Board of Directors of the Colombian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the director of the Extractive Committee of the Colombian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce.  Marianna is also a member of the Latin America Regional Executive Committee Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).
