He teaches Energy Law and Project Finance at several leading Mexican universities.
Carlos was a visiting professor of Energy Law at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He currently serves as the vice-president of Academia Mexicana de Derecho Energético (AMDE) and was the first Mexican board member in the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN). Carlos is vice-chairman of the Energy Committee and member of the Energy Task Force for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.
He worked as a foreign associate at the Washington, D.C. office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton.
Carlos is recognized as a leading expert and lawyer by renowned international legal publications and directories, such as Chambers Latin American Guide and Chambers Global Guide, in the Energy and Natural Resources and Project Finance practices. Benjamin chairs the Membership Committee of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (formerly AIPN) and serves in its Executive Committee. He also was President of the Energy Committee in AmCham Mexico during 2018 through 2021. In addition, he has lectured for the Energy and Sustainability Law Master's Degree at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and taught Energy Law classes at Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juarez, Universidad Juarez Autónoma de Tabasco and Business Law at ITESM Campus Ciudad Juarez. He has served at the Energy Editorial Boards of Reforma and Norte newspapers.
David H. Weiss, is a Partner at Mayer Brown LLP. David has participated, and taken a lead role, in several of the largest and most complex international arbitrations in recent years and successfully obtained multiple awards whose value exceeded US$1 billion.
