Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology is one of the critical solutions proposed to tackle climate change, either by mitigating hard-to-abate industrial emissions or, when combined with bioenergy or direct air capture, enabling negative emissions technologies. Following the US Inflation Reduction Act and the recently proposed EU Net Zero Industry Act which aim to accelerate the development of CCS projects, that technology is now rapidly gaining momentum in policy and industry debates. Our speakers will take a look at the current regulatory and industrial status of this technology, analyze restrictions on developing these projects and will consider the various industrial, regulatory and societal challenges that will need to be overcome.
