Adeniyi Akindele

Adeniyi is a dedicated legal professional with a strong academic background and a passion for energy law, energy policy, and sustainable development. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, and a Barrister at Law (B.L) degree from the Nigerian Law School. Adeniyi furthered his education by pursuing a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Energy Policy under the African Union Scholarship at The Pan African University & Abou Belkaid University in Algeria, focusing on the intricate intersections of energy law, policy, and environmental justice in vulnerable communities.
Throughout his academic and professional journey, Adeniyi has actively engaged in legal research and practical applications within the legal field. He has served as an Associate at reputable legal firms, including Esher & Makarios Legal Practitioners and Clarks & Moore LP, where he provided legal advisory services, conducted extensive research, and represented corporate clients in civil suits. His experience also extends to editorial roles, as he served as an Editorial Assistant for the Carnelian Journal of Law and Politics, where he contributed to the publication process and provided administrative support.
Passionate about environmental causes, Adeniyi has volunteered his time and expertise with organizations such as the Green Institute and African Clean Up Initiative, where he conducted research on environmental policies, organized community outreach programs, and promoted sustainable environmental practices.
Adeniyi is a student member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN) where he volunteered as a IES25 planning committee. He is a member in a number of AIEN Committees and Taskforces, CCS Taskforce, Gas Sales Agreement- Revision of 2006 Model Contract drafting Committee and the Hydrogen Sale and Purchase Agreement drafting.
Adeniyi’s professional memberships include the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL). He has also contributed to academic discourse through published works in prestigious journals, addressing critical topics such as climate change, sustainability, and energy law.
Currently, Adeniyi is actively engaged in ongoing research projects focusing on legal frameworks for ensuring the security and resilience of energy infrastructure in Nigeria, as well as regulatory approaches to promoting energy justice and equitable distribution of energy benefits in Africa.
