Prior to the IES Welcome Reception and kick-off of the conference, AIEN will host four workshops on Tuesday, June 2. There will be two morning workshops and two afternoon workshops, allowing attendees to register for more than one workshop and double their learning! All workshops are $250 each and can be added on to your conference registration. Registration will include a coffee break and workshop materials.

Morning Workshops (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
LNG Liquefaction and Regasification Agreements - Commercial, Contractual & Operational Essentials
This workshop will review and explain key commercial and contractual levers, including: merchant vs tolling models, capacity booking, take-or-pay, LLA/TSA/RSA mechanics, nominations & imbalance rules, plant outage/performance risk, payment security (LC/guarantees), force majeure, change in law, termination, and ESG/emissions cost pass-through. The presenters will include a model-clause red-line clinic and one multi-party negotiation simulation (gas owner/offtaker – liquefaction operator – terminal operator – lender) with structured debriefs.
Worldwide Comparative Energy Law - A Focus on Offshore & Maritime Issues and Negotiations
This panel of experts will explore offshore and maritime law issues impacting the Energy Industry and will briefly touch on CCUS. Discussions will span key regions—Thailand and surrounding seas, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the United States—highlighting recent legal developments and regulatory trends. The session will conclude with a dynamic negotiation exercise, applying these regional perspectives to real-world challenges.
Afternoon Workshops (1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Development of CCUS Projects
This workshop will provide technical and commercial deep dives along with strategic insights into managing CCUS projects. We will cover everything from core capture technologies, commercial agreements to regulatory frameworks and project economics. Participants will explore the unique challenges and opportunities in developing CCUS projects, with an emphasis on risk allocation, financing, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability. The workshop will also include an interactive case study that demonstrates how to analyze a proposed CCS project and negotiate selected clauses in key related agreements.
LNG Purchase and Sale Agreements
The long-awaited AIEN Model LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement was published 2025. . This workshop begins with a primer/refresher on the LNG industry and related commercial issues, followed by a detailed review of some of the key commercial and legal issues in the new Model Form and finishing with a short mock negotiation to highlight some of the key commercial issues in the new Model Form. The workshop is designed for a broad range of participants, from the curious to the cognoscenti.
